Sony Releases The Interview
After last week's decision to pull the movie from theaters due to threats from North Korea, Sony announced that over 300 independent movie theatres are showing the film on Christmas Day. Sony backtracked its decision not to show the controversial film after criticism from Hollywood stars, fans and President Obama, who called the move a mistake. Yet after Sony made the decision to let the release happen, fans applauded the move as a victory for those exercising freedom of speech. While there are a limited number of showings, Sony announced today that the film is available for purchase on Google Play, Xbox, Youtube and Sony's own website. Sony also has plans to distribute the film in other formats but there are no details as of yet. Although The Interview has gotten a couple of bad reviews, the film is now one of the most talked about films of 2014.
